Julian Aldana Brol is from Tampa, Florida, where he focused his extracurriculars around his interests in economics, service, and art. He was the vice president of the business sector for Wheels For All, a Special Olympics certified special needs coach through Tennis For Fun, the concertmaster of his school’s orchestra, and a math tutor. After partly living in Guatemala and being exposed to various issues with the country’s infrastructure and urban planning, Julian will be majoring in civil engineering to ultimately develop plans that will promote sustainable change.

Anasimon Gergis is from Buford, Georgia, where she was a sports medicine trainee and manager. Originally from Alexandria, Egypt, Anasimon was involved in community service within her school and the local Egyptian community. She always has been fascinated by the medical field, especially the mechanics of prosthetics, and wants to help improve medical equipment and technology. Anasimon will be majoring in biomedical engineering.

Daniel Howell is from Lafayette, Georgia, where he volunteered at the Walker County Special Olympics, the Honeybee Festival, and the Care Mission food pantry. Daniel’s desire is to design infrastructure to make everyday life more efficient and sustainable, and he will be majoring in civil engineering.

Madison Ingram is from Columbus, Ohio, where she competed in varsity basketball, volleyball, and track for her high school. She was a member of the Women in STEM Club and Black Student Union, and she worked at the High Throughput Screen Core at Ohio State’s James Cancer Research Center. Although Madison was interested in entering the medical field early on, she discovered a passion for STEM and engineering during high school. Still, Madison is keeping her options open — and an eye still on medical school — and will be majoring in biomedical engineering.

Rebecca Muñoz is from Duluth, Georgia, where she competed in volleyball and soccer and played viola for her school’s orchestra. She volunteered with Trees Atlanta, tutored students at schools across Gwinnett County, and was the secretary of the Mental Health Awareness Club. Passionate about conservation, Rebecca dreams of traveling to underserved communities to help implement sustainable infrastructure solutions, water irrigation systems, and reliable energy sources. Rebecca will be majoring in environmental engineering.

Matthew Nguyen is from Ellaville, Georgia, where he was involved in various sports teams, including wrestling and powerlifting. He helped create 3D-printed mask extenders for first responders and also participated in setting up STEM fairs for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Matthew developed a passion for the creative process within engineering through his involvement in robotics and engineering organizations at his school. He also worked as an intern at WIKA in Lawrenceville, Georgia, a leading company in pressure and temperature measurement. He will be majoring in mechanical engineering.

Nha Nguyen is from Norcross, Georgia, where she was captain of her school’s varsity tennis team and a part of the Future Business Leaders of America. She was active in various service activities, including through her school’s Key Club. Nha fell in love with the idea of assembling and programming robots in middle school and decided to pursue a career in a STEM-related field. In high school, she continued to develop her skills, including studying AP Computer Science. With the desire to continuing using computer science to create, Nha will be majoring in computer engineering.

Karan Patel is from Essington, Pennsylvania, where he was the student leader for numerous school clubs, including PBIS and Hi-Q. He interned with the technology department for his school district and volunteered at BAPS Hindu Temple. Karan’s interest in travel coupled with his close proximity to the Philadelphia International Airport led him to major in aerospace engineering.

Gabriel Raffington is from Sandy Springs, Georgia, where he was the captain of the varsity wrestling team and a member of JROTC and the Civil Air Patrol. Early on, Gabriel had an interest in planes and wanted to become a pilot. After being introduced to more STEM and engineering classes in high school, his interests shifted toward the technical side of aviation. He will be majoring in aerospace engineering.

Caitlin Rodriguez-Rivera is from Atlanta, Georgia, where she participated in work-study programs for Schultan Ward Turner & Weiss, Peachtree Church, and Kimley-Horn. She volunteered at the Atlanta Community Food Bank and organized meetings for her school’s debate club. Caitlin is interested in the chemical processes required to develop medicine and wants to help drive new developments in that area. She will be majoring in chemical and biomolecular engineering.
