Jennie Baker
Jennie Baker
2020

Jennie Baker is from Somers, New York, where she attended Somers High School and graduated as salutatorian. She served as the violin section leader in the orchestra and as president of the service club. She was also a student intern at Salem Hills Nursing Home, where she often performed music and engaged in activities with the residents. In addition, Jennie partook in a science research program, studying minimizing air pollution through agricultural waste fuel sources. This is where she discovered her passion for environmental engineering. Outside of school, she enjoys playing guitar and exploring various genres of music.

Vincent Bell
2020

Vincent Bell was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and was raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He attended Archer High School, where he was in the top five percent of his class and excelled in mathematics. He would often tutor his peers and worked as a tutor at Mathnasium. He is a member of the Baha’i faith and was raised to be of service to others, spending much of his time devoted to community service. During his free time, he enjoys playing games and spending time with his trusted friends.

Jada Brunson
2020

Jada Brunson is from McDonough, Georgia and attended Luella High School where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was an officer in the Student Government Association and member of the varsity cheer team where she cheered football, basketball, and competition cheer seasons. She was also in Principal Council, National Honor Society, math team, peer facilitation, and the UGA Young Scholars Program. During her time as a Young Scholar, she helped conduct research on the removal and recovery of polyfluoroalkyl substances in water through the process of electrocoagulation. In her free time, she enjoys watching Netflix and listening to music. 

Azalia Cyphers
2020

Azalia Cyphers is from Austin, Texas and attended Manor New Technology High School.  She held various leadership positions in high school, such as serving as the captain of the first Varsity Volleyball team in her school’s history, section leader in the Orchestra, and vice -president for her senior class. Azalia also enjoyed volunteering in her community, serving as a mentor and coding instructor for middle school students, and she accumulated over 250 community service hours. She has completed an internship with cybersecurity start-up Threatcare and was inducted into the 2020 Generation Google scholar class.  In her free time, Azalia loves to write poetry, create music, exercise, and enjoy nature. 
 

Hector Alejandro Duran
2020

Hector Alejandro Duran is from Miami, Florida, and attended Jose Marti MAST. He was class and school president at MAST. He also co-founded a marine science lab and served as president of Marine Science Club and TSA. Additionally, he conducted research focused on a different approach to lab instruction in a secondary setting. Away from school he was captain of his Judo tournament team from 2017 to 2020. He enjoys woodworking, fishing, playing basketball, and spending time with his family.

Nathaniel Grayson
2020

Nathaniel (Nate) Grayson is from McDonough, Georgia, and attended the Academy for Advanced Studies and Ola High School. He participated in his high school’s Science Olympiad and Math teams, as well as the Academy’s TSA and NASA Human Exploration Challenge team. He served as head engineer and was nominated for engineering for the Governor’s Honors Program. He played basketball and was the lead jumper for the track and field team. Nate also led the canned food drive for his cross-country team. Additionally, he received the regional Positive Athlete Georgia scholarship. Over the summers, he enjoyed being active in his community by attending the American Legion Boys State Program, working concession stands for a youth football league, and feeding the homeless. Nate enjoys being a part of the Tech family and looks forward to what is to come as a Clark Scholar and Yellow Jacket.
 

Eileen Liu
2020

Eileen Liu is from Alpharetta, Georgia and attended Alpharetta High School. She served as concertmaster of her school's orchestra, president of National Chinese Honors Association, and an active member of Science Olympiad. Outside of school, Eileen was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra (associate concertmaster), and she also managed her own quartet. Additionally, she enjoys volunteering and traveled to New Mexico on a volunteer trip for three consecutive summers, serving as a Team Leader for her church's summer program. In her free time, Eileen enjoys embroidery, volleyball, and playing the violin, piano or guitar. 

David Morales
2020

David Morales is a first-generation student from Griffin, Georgia who graduated from Griffin High School. He served as captain of his tennis team for two years, and participated in Academic Quiz Bowl and FIRST Robotics. All throughout school he worked at El Charro restaurant and loved being a server. He also worked during the summer as an intern at his local airport and helped with the restoration of older planes. During his leisure time, David enjoys baking, exploring new areas, listening to K-Pop, and gardening. 
 

Joe R. Stover
2020

Joe R. Stover is from Bonita Springs, Florida and attended First Baptist Academy. Along with his academic achievements, he gave back to his community through volunteering in equine therapy and as a youth flag football referee. Joe seeks to implement the knowledge learned in his Materials Science and Engineering major to help reimagine the next generation of manufacturing technology materials. In his free time, Joe enjoys strength training, playing basketball, and researching investment trading. 

Gigi Tu
2020

Gigi Tu is from Lilburn, Georgia and attended Meadowcreek High School. She graduated as salutatorian of her class and is also a first-generation college student. In high school, she served as the vice president of her chapter’s Future Business Leaders of America and actively participated in other school organizations like Science Olympiad and National Honor Society. In addition to her extracurriculars, she interned at Cisco and Ricoh USA and worked at a student-based enterprise which built websites and designed graphics for different clientele. Outside of her studies, Gigi enjoys cooking and watching movies.
